Our Story

Sola was initially developed in 2012 by Ryan Turner, an experienced private chef from Great Britain. Chef Ryan is passionate about helping people live a healthy lifestyle, while still enjoying great food. Famous for his low-carb meals and desserts, he struggled to find quality sweeteners that would do his food creations justice. Realizing the need for a superior sugar replacement, he set out to develop one himself given his passion and expertise.

Current artificial sweeteners on the market were all created by scientists in a lab. Chef Ryan had yet to find one that functioned in the kitchen with the versatility of standard table sugar. Popular artificial sweeteners like Splenda™ are unable to provide any structure in baking. The sweeteners that claimed to be more natural, like Stevia™, left an undesirable aftertaste. Understanding the qualities in sweeteners he didn’t want, he decided to take a different approach all together – he went straight to nature. He explored every possible sweetener found in nature and diligently worked over the course of two years to find the perfect combination.

Sola was the product of this perfect combination. Not only does it exemplify all the most important things to Chef Ryan in taste and function, it even measures cup-for-cup like standard table sugar. This allows users of any experience in the kitchen to seamlessly replace sugar with Sola into their favorite recipes.

Sola enlisted clinical researchers to conduct studies over the course of 3 years to confirm that it is in fact, the healthier alternative to sugar. On the glycemic index scale, Sola can be found around a 4 while sugar is over 60. Sola suppresses the insulin response in the body which means all those adverse side effects caused by sugar are non-existent when replaced with Sola.
